NIFTA 2006 was founded by the K-PAG artistic directors around the rationale of 'bridging the urban dream" by creating an all equal platform for artists and audiences alike from all over the world regardless of their socio-economic background.
NIFTA 2006, a 5 day partiattracted 50,000 direct participants and another 500,000 who followed it via TV and internet.
Partners included the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, The Royal Netherlands Embassy, K-PAG, The Israeli Embassy, HIVOS amomg many others.
Venues included: Kenya National Theatre,University of Nairobi, Kibera, Kawangware, K.I.C.C. and Huruma.
NIFTA 2008's rationale was to encourage consistency of the art-form in 'living the urban dream'. It was was a 2-day participatory and interactive event was held at Kenya Cultural Centre grounds and Kenya National Theatre auditorium to mammoth crrowd.
The pre-festival reached over 100,000 participants directly making it one of the most effective marketting atrategies.
NIFTA 2008 experienced an increased partnership that included the participation of the K.T.N. Arts Scene, Stichting Jongerentheater Link (the Netherlands), Da Factory Club and Stichting Doen.
NIFTA 2010 is the art-evolution of the south. Its rationale is the development of the art-form, art entrepreneurship and sustenance.
NIFTA 2010 is a platform for the 'South' to drastically rethink purposes, modalities and effects of inter-cultural dialogue.
NIFTA 2010 is a 5-day participatory and interactive arts and culture festival in theatre, dance, music, street and urban art, culinary arts, visual arts, graffiti, arts management, art laboratories and art forums.
NIFTA 2010 will be held in Nairobi, Kenya from the 17th August, 2010 to 22nd August, 2010. Venues include the Kenya National Theatre, Kibera, Kawagware, Go Down Arts Centre, Alliance Francaise
